Team Kendall Racer of the Month - April 2012 - Dustin Moore
We're pleased to name Dustin Moore from Springfield, Ill., as April's Team Kendall Racer of the Month. Moore's racing career began more than 10 years ago when he became the manager of one of his older brother's racing teams. Then, after working behind-the-scenes and facing several hardships in his life, he was finally given the opportunity to step into the spotlight as the driver in 2011.
"The past few years have been challenging," Moore admitted. "I've been battling lymphoma and trying to cope with the loss of my mother, who passed away in 2005." Things turned around for the racer last year when one of his brothers got ahold of an extra car and passed it down to him. "When my brother got ahold of an extra 2005 Dallara Chasssis and said I could start racing, I was thrilled. Racing gives me a chance to spend quality time with my two brothers and just have fun."
When Moore took to the track for the first time at Spring Creek Speedway in Macomb, Ill., last August, he surprised everyone with his talent. Not only did he finish in the top ten of the Non-Wing Micro Sprint class, he also beat several seasoned drivers - including his eldest brother. Moore's beginner's luck evolved into continued success throughout the year; and by the time the season came to a close, he knew he wanted to continue racing - so he joined Team Kendall.
This month, Moore kicked off his second racing season and first year with Team Kendall at Charleston Speedway in Charleston, Ill., where he competed in the Non-Wing Micro Sprint class. In preparation for his first race, Moore got a few car maintenance tips from his brother, who introduced him to Kendall Motor Oil. "After experimenting with different oils, Eric told me about Kendall GT-1® High Performance Motor Oil with Liquid Titanium® protection additve," he said. "I could tell a difference instantly, and I've been using it ever since."
Moore's goal for 2012 is to surpass last year's performance by finishing in the top five of his class and qualifying for finals - a feat he fell short of by two places last season. And although he has high expectation, he remains hopeful knowing that his mom is always on the track with him in spirit.
"When I got sick, my brothers stepped in to take care of me with my mom gone. Now it's awesome to be able to join them on the track and show them what I can do as a racer," Moor smiled. "Plus, beating my brother was pretty cool!"
"Dustin has seen a lot of adversity in his life, so it's great to see him excel out on the race track," added Marketer Larry Snyder of Molo Oil Co. in Eldridge, Iowa. "I hope to see him continue racing and, most importantly, enjoying himself."
We congratulate Moore on being Team Kendall's Racer of the Month for April, and look forward to watching his 2012 accomplishments!
